Geelong SDGs Workshop with DELWP

Geelong SDGs Workshop with DELWP

About
The workshop was run by DELWP (Geelong) and the Local SDGs team (Katrina and Enayat) were participating.

Summary
Firstly an analysis of Forrest aspirations was presented to indicate which SDGs may be of most interest to the Forrest community e.g. 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth. Then the relationship between 6 other projects was discussed e.g. Forrest Common masterplan, Forrest mountain bike re-design.

Next we divided the project parameters of the Forrest Plan between ‘Negotiables’ (e.g. how the Plan is documented; how and whom from the Forrest community contributes) and ‘Not Negotiables’ (e.g. DELWP to be collaborators in plan implementation; Workshop engagement must achieve vision and action objectives).

It was decided that project stakeholders should include Research Institutions, DEWLP, Local Authorities, Technical Experts and Community Groups. Lastly it was agreed that the 3 stages of the marketing of the project to the local community will entail a Listening Post, Open House event and then an Ideas and Actions Workshop. Issues, vision, opportunities and goals will be discussed during these engagements.
