Forrest Visioning Workshop

November Workshop Summary

We held a 2.5-hour Visioning and Ideas Workshop on 23 November with the Forrest community, and we had 16 attendees. Our aim was to have the community articulate a shared vision for Forrest in 2030. Our facilitator took the group through a guided visualisation and then each person described what changes they saw on a walk through the town in 2030. Then, in groups, the attendees provided ideas for how they would achieve their vision of Forrest, and what tensions they saw with the community aspirations.

Katrina’s next steps from here will be to collate the information collected and create a draft vision for the community, which we will take back to them next year for refinement. This vision, and the local ideas for achievement, will form the basis of modelling to be undertaken to create pathways to achieve the vision. The vision will also be used to develop a town strategic plan, which the community have identified a need for. Ultimately, there will be a consistent community plan, backed up with modelling and pathways developed by our Deakin research, to achieve a sustainable Forrest in 2030 through the Sustainable Development Goals.
