At the Forrest Community Open House

Enayat, Katrina and Dianty from the Local SDGs Project returned to Forrest this month to report back to the community what they had learned from the September engagement and see if there was anything they missed. Katrina reports:

We conducted interviews with two people from Colac-Otway Shire, and held a facilitated Kitchen Table Discussion with the Forrest Gateway Project Steering Committee (who are also collaborators with the Local SDGs project). The main activity of the weekend was an Open House, where we displayed posters that summarised the information we learned at the Listening Post event, and invited people to consider questions related to the broad themes we identified that are of concern to the community. People could contribute thoughts and feedback by writing on large sheets of paper. I also presented to the Steering Committee, and twice to the community.

The Forrest Community’s (Gateway Project) Steering Committee is brainstorming what they like about their town now and what they would like to see in the future.

Katrina is presenting at the ‘Forrest Community Open Day’ about the significance of SDGs at the local scale.

A great way to end a day full of community engagement activities for localising SDGs in a fantastic local brewery with the amazing Forrest community.

We look forward to another visit to Forrest on 23 November for an Ideas and Actions Workshop where having identified challenges and threats to the community, we will work on finding local solutions.
