Congratulations Katrina on her 2019 CIE Award

Katrina’s CIE award for community research

Congratulations to The Local SDGs Katrina Szetey for receiving the Science Outreach award in the 2019 CIE HDR Research Awards. This has been a momentous day for Katrina who also delivered an impressive PhD Confirmation of Candidature Presentation today. Higher Degree Research (HDR) awards are issued by the Centre for Integrative Ecology (CIE) at Deakin University to acknowledge outstanding research. Congratulations also to Simone Stevenson (Best reviewed paper) and Ozge Geyik (Best submitted paper).

Katrina received her science outreach award for best translating and communicating science for the benefit of the broader community as part of her project:

Local Agenda 2030: Localising the Sustainable Development Goals and developing pathways for implementation in Australian communities

Her exemplary PhD work has been integral to the progress of The Local SDGs project in the Greater Geelong and Forrest-Otways regions of Victoria. Her tireless research and engagements with both experts and members of the community are critical to the goal of implementing sustainable development goals at the local level.

In addition to being awarded a certificate and prize, Katrina now has the opportunity to deliver a 10-minute presentation at the 2019 CIE Annual Conference on Wednesday, 16th October at Deakin Downtown, Melbourne. This is a great forum for academics, researchers and students to showcase their research and reflect upon their achievements.
